gn the petition to Facebook: Take down the fake Pelosi video
Facebook allowed a maliciously doctored video of Nancy Pelosi to go viral, and get viewed by millions. The video was deliberately slowed down to make Pelosi look drunk & confused, and re-shared by many who probably did not realize (or care) that the video was fake.
But Facebook has refused to take it down. A spokesperson told CNN that they made it less prominent so that it would be viewed less frequently, and added a boilerplate disclaimer. But as Anderson Cooper asked them, why did they not take it down if they knew it was fake?
Meanwhile, Facebook has clamped down on progressive news sites (like Daily Kos) — while allowing demonstrably false videos to be spread by people who don’t care if it is true or not.
More Americans get their news from Facebook than any other media, so the dissemination of flat-out lies is dangerous. As bad actors plan to spread false information to re-elect Donald Trump in 2020, Facebook’s refusal to take responsibility must change immediately.

Our Message to Facebook :
Facebook’s refusal to take responsibility for spreading deliberately false information like the doctored Pelosi video is an outrage. As bad actors plan to spread false information on social media during the 2020 campaign, Facebook must take down the Pelosi video — and set up some clear standards that deliberately false information will not be tolerated.
